Keep us growing in 2023

Rhythm Seed Farm has come a long way from the overgrown patch of weeds it was just two years ago. A lot of blood, sweat, and mulch has been invested in the land currently under our stewardship.

We are proud to say that this year we donated over 3,000 seed packets to low-income communities and BIPOC organizations. We received 501(c)(3) status in 2022, and have big plants – sorry – plans for 2023.

What we have achieved thus far has largely been fueled by: our tireless founder and dedicated volunteers; in-kind contributions of mulch, compost, and jute bags; and donated lumber and materials.

We have our proof of concept. We have our theory of change. The farm is already producing hundreds of pounds of food — and millions of seeds — per growing season, thousands of packets of which are already reaching the communities we exist to serve.

Our 2023 Goals

  • INFRASTRUCTURE: We are planning to build up our on-farm infrastructure to increase operational efficiency and improve visitors' experiences.

Funds donated will be spent on materials and equipment needed to build a hand and produce washing station, invest in water-smart irrigation practices, and create a pop-up space that serve as a volunteer relaxation area, host plant sales, and form a small summer workspace.

  • TECHNOLOGY: We are building a digital ecosystem, including an online seed shop, inventory management system, and a knowledge-sharing platform.

It is time for urban farms to leverage the digital age. Yet efficient and user-friendly digital tools come at a cost. Donations help us ensure that our limited time can be spent focusing on maintaining the farm and expanding community-based programming, rather than spending weeks staring blankly at lines of code we barely understand.

  • COMMUNITY BUILDING: We are designing both in-person and online knowledge sharing opportunities.

The sooner we can launch our education and outreach programs, the more resilient our local food system and urban ecosystems will be. Your donation helps us organize and host workshops and courses for members and the general public.

FUNDRAISING GOAL: $46,877

FUNDRAISING GOAL: $46,877

We need approximately $46,877 to keep the farm gates open through 2023. This amount covers all of the goals listed above, as well as all of our seed donations, regular running costs (farm inputs, insurance, digital services like this website, office and shipping supplies, and equipment), as well as modest stipends for two full-time workers (roughly equivalent to the americorps living allowance) that keep our plants and programs alive day in and day out.

OUR HOLIDAY FUNDRAISER

From now until January 1, 2023, we have a number of time-limited offers for our supporters. From rare plant sale tickets to discounted memberships and pollinator garden installation, our donation tiers listed below each come with a special offer not available the rest of the year.

For those who may want to donate a specific amount, wish to forgo the perks listed for our donation tiers, or want to set up monthly contributions, please visit our paypal account by clicking the button below.

DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT

Our top donation tiers listed below are a fantastic way to support our work and reduce your personal ecological footprint simultaneously. Transforming even a small space can have a major positive impact on our environment, and liven up your dining table with the freshest possible produce. Whether you opt for a micro, mini, or standard garden, those who live within a 10-mile radius of our location at 6825 NE Prescott St. will receive a sheet mulch garden designed and installed by our landscape designer prior to the start of our growing season in 2023.

Donors can select whether they prefer a pollinator garden, an edible garden, or a hybrid of the two. Your donation includes planting materials for a sheet mulch garden and a blend of our seeds selected by our landscape designer.

These donation tiers sustain our work supporting our local food system and restoring our urban environment, while supporting biodiversity and improving food security in your own back— or front —yard! (If you are interested but live outside the covered 10 mile radius, we still want to serve you! Similiarly, if you want to sign up but have specific plants in mind, or prefer raised beds or a container garden, we can adjust the rate according to your preferences.
